Writing Portfolio

I’ve had to take two semesters off (possibly more–it’s currently an indefinite hiatus) from my art classes due to lack of tuition funds, and I haven’t had many freelance orders come in lately. I am, however, on the job hunt for writing and editing jobs, so in the meantime, I’ll be compiling some writing highlights to build up the other side of my portfolio. I’ve posted about six pieces to date. To access my writing portfolio, either click on the link above that says, “Wordplay,” or go directly to https://designedbyniki.com/wordplay/. The PDF files are password-protected with contact information that employers with whom I’ve been in contact will have, as well as friends who have my current contact info will have.

The Semester’s Digital Cornucopia

When last we spoke, it was… 5 months ago?! Time sure flies when you have not a moment to yourself…

The semester is coming to an end, and final exams will wrap up this Thursday. Around that time, I should be receiving the rest of my projects back from Color Theory and Printmaking, and I’ll be sure to create a photo post for each. 🙂

There are some major changes and transitions in the works, but it’s too early to say much about it, as there are many details that could go in very different directions yet. So… stay tuned.

Meanwhile, because I must tease you and hold out a little longer (for the sake of keeping this poor old page halfway organized!), I’ll give you a little something to chew on: digital art (some photography, some illustrations, and some digitally manipulated photography) I created this semester for use in various CT and Printmaking projects.

Steampunk Hat Pin and Goggles

Hat pin from previous post show here in daylight (with more accurate colors). Steampunk goggles! Completed 7/2/13, made from welding goggles, paint, and actual clock gears. Want it to look more aged? Let me know, and I’ll add the tarnish/wear effect. The goggles go up on Etsy Thursday morning if no one local buys them (local purchases avoid shipping costs, so it’s a good deal to get these pieces early!). Additionally, I can swap out the elastic band with a faux leather band with metal brads if requested for an additional cost, based on material costs.
